Spa Excess Step 3 Re-Opening

Gentlemen,

The Ontario government issued a brief a few weeks ago regarding the Reopening of Ontario, so we wanted to give you an update.

Bathhouses are classified as Personal Care Services (PCS) by the Ontario government. In the “Roadmap to Reopen” document, PCS can open in Step 2 but with restrictions. The business capacity in step 2 is limited to 25% with a maximum of five (5) concurrent people allowed.

These restrictions do not work with the bathhouse business model.

In Step 3, PCS can “open with capacity limited to permit physical distancing of 2 metres and other restrictions”.

Given reduced occupancy and rules for disinfection, we will be renting rooms only (no lockers) during the initial opening. Also, the rental time period will be 6 hours instead of 8 with no renewals to allow for those waiting the opportunity to enjoy your bathhouse.

Summary: Bathhouses would be allowed to open and operate in Step 3 with restricted amenities.

The current “Roadmap to Reopen” times-lines are:

• Step 1: Begins June 11th
• Step 2: Scheduled for July 5 but may be earlier
• Step 3: Scheduled for July 26 but may be earlier

The Ontario government reserves the right to amend these timelines; but for now, we will assume the ability to open starting July 26th (or a couple of days earlier) across all of Ontario.

Please get vaccinated. This helps accelerate Ontario’s re-openings, reduces anxiety for those who are visiting, and helps ensure we will not go backwards to a further shutdown. Think about it, Will the man you want to enjoy time with ask “Have you been vaccinated?” It may be the difference between a bang or a dud.
